SAT Boundaries Practice Questions for Punctuation

Boundaries questions test how ideas are joined, separated, or punctuated in a sentence. These SAT punctuation practice questions focus on complete thoughts, fragments, comma splices, semicolons, colons, and dashes.

  1. Find the subject and verb on each side of the underlined portion.
  2. Classify the structure: complete sentence plus complete sentence, complete sentence plus explanation, list or modifier, or dependent clause.
  3. Choose punctuation that joins the parts legally without a fragment, run-on, or comma splice.
